about

SBK – Satan's Bee Keeper. Sound Artist based in the UK.

Drawing influences from drone, dark ambient and post-Black Metal, along with the Dada and Fluxus movements, SBK seeks to remove the physical boundaries of art and plug his sonic exhibitions directly into the listeners head.

By removing art from a fixed point in space and transferring it to the immediacy of sound, the work becomes an idea in your head. This is your connection. You are art. Your brain is art: the complexity of thought, the chaotic tumble of imagination. The unbearable beauty and haunted avenues of your mind; these are the places Satan's Bee Keeper chooses to exhibit in.

SBK works with an admixture of electronically generated noises, samples and the cunning use of sounds scraped from the inner bowels of a Boss GT8 multi-fx unit running into a Marshall JCM 900/Marshall 1960 combination. SBK uses an Ibanez RG series 8 string guitar randomly de-tuned to no particular tuning except DARK. When you have a fretboard that no longer conforms to a natural order you begin to discover an unnatural order.

SBK-EP1

This work examines the theme of isolation. It concerns itself with both the isolation of the self and the wider societal isolation of those who exist along the borders.
We all harbour that desire to totally isolate ourselves from a planet full of screaming voices. For some it is a choice, for others a necessity for survival. To remove yourself; to cease existing for a while.
Many come back. Some don't. And sometimes they come back from the void only to find that society has forgotten them.
